2020 Season - #5 Ricky Somers Champion! and #9 Lyall McComber named Super Nationals winner!
The 2020 Elite Street Stock season started off with a big crash for #97 Cody Martin on the opening weekend. His truck was in rough shape but a quick trip to Big Rig Collision and some long days and Cody would be back for the second weekend of the season. 2020 saw Ricky Somers claim his second track championship and newcomer #01 Chris Moore would finish 3rd in the points and claim the Rookie of The Year honours. #51 Cody Evans would finished 2nd for the season after winning the championship in 2019.
Our invitational event for the Defiant Group IMCA Super Nationals was able to draw a ton of new drivers from all over Western Canada. We were thrilled to have many new racers on the track and the club is very appreciative for the long distances these drivers travelled to join us. The weekend was full of tight clean racing and #9 Lyall McComber would end up with the most points and would claim the title of Super Nationals Champion. Second place would go to #48 Shawn Lowe, he and #5 Ricky Somers were actually tied for weekend points but a higher finishing average would give Shawn the edge. Fourth overall for the weekend would go to #4 Jeremy Smith who travelled all the way from Okanagan Falls, BC and had the largest group of fans at the speedway all weekend.
We are very excited about this series for 2021. There are several new local cars that plan to run full time and we believe the Super Nationals event will be the biggest yet with racers coming from BC, AB, and Sask.
